We manufacture drawn and extruded aluminum tube and pipe. We offer finishes including anodizing, wet and powder coat painting, and a wide variety of fabrication options
The cold drawn aluminum tubing process consists of having a large aluminum tube pulled through a die with hydaulic or mechanical force , reducing the outer diameter and sometimes with a mandrel inserted to reduce the wall thickness and ID as well. As the aluminum is pulled through the die it undergoes plastic deformation.
- Better tolerances for the OD, ID and wall dimensions than with extruded tube
- The ability to obtain a thinner wall and smaller OD than with extruded tube
- Improved surface finish over extruded tube
- Improved concentricity
- Improved machining and bending performance
- Improved tensile properties
The most common aluminum extrusion process is porthole extrusion. The , metal is forced around a shape that matches the hollow section you want to extrude. The tooling needs ribs to hold that shape in place, and the metal has to flow around them. That separates the metal as it extrudes, so a second die forces those sections back togethercreating invisible “weld” lines. The 2nd main methods of extrusion is known as seamless extrusion. This entails a fully extruded hollow tube that does not have any welding or bracketing along the entire lineal length of the profile. The method of creating a seamless aluminum tube involves what is known as a piercing extrusion,. This method of extruding is less common and more expensive than porthole extrusion.

From 0.5″ to 33′ in mill finish. Paint and anodized lengths vary.
We can supply tubes down to 0.188″ diameter and up to 5.5″ in diameter. Wall thicknesses are supplied from 0.017″ to .450″. Not all alloys are available in this range and specific OD/wall combinations are subject to inquiry.
